Allows you to set permissions for users to work with QTRACS
information.
Note: If you are restricting user access to information based on coverage
and / or global group membership, you must carefully consider which permissions
to grant. See
QTRACS Permission
Recommendations.
General
- Can use QTRACS
- Check to let the user access and use QTRACS software. If all
other permissions are left unchecked, the user can view authorized vehicle
position information.
- Can see drivers
- Check to let the user view driver details. Controls whether the
Drivers tab appears. Restricted users see only drivers assigned to the global
groups they are a member of.
- Can see driver event history
- Check to let the user view login/logout events for the selected
driver. Restricted users see only drivers assigned to the global groups they
are a member of.
Administration
- Can set up vehicles
- Check to let the user create, edit, and delete vehicles. A
restricted user can work only with authorized vehicles, and create a vehicle in
a coverage group he/she is a member of.
- Can set up drivers
- Check to let the user create, edit, and delete drivers. A
restricted user sees only drivers assigned to the global groups he/she is a
member of.
- Can set up macros
- Check to let the user create, edit, and delete macros. Macros are
electronic forms that simplify messaging. Not affected by data access
restrictions.
- Can set up coverages
- Check to let the user create, edit, and delete coverages. A
coverage is created when a user or address list is assigned to cover a vehicle.
The members of the coverage are responsible for managing data exchanged with
the vehicle. A restricted user can assign all vehicles; not just authorized
vehicles.
- Can set up address lists
- Check to let the user create, edit, and delete address lists. An
address list is a group of users that can be used for coverage when you want to
assign more than one user to manage one or more vehicles. Not affected by data
access restrictions.
- Can ping vehicle
- Check to let the user request a position update from a vehicle.
Ping requests result in two over-the-air messages, one to request the position
and the response, which can increase monthly fees. Restricted users can ping
only authorized vehicles.
- Can use bulk importers
- Check to let the user use the bulk importer tool. The bulk importer is used to upload groups of driver or vehicles at once or change driver or vehicle attributes for your entire fleet or a subset of your fleet all at once. Users also need permission to set up vehicles and/or set up drivers in order to use the bulk importer tool.
Messaging
- Can see messages
- Check to let the user view the Messages tab. Enable this
permission for anyone in your company who exchanges information with
drivers/vehicles as a member of a coverage group.
- If global groups are being used and you enable this for a role
assigned to users in the global group, those users won't see messages in their
own mailboxes. To allow them to view messages for authorized vehicles, also
give them permission "Can see vehicle mailboxes." They can select a specific
vehicle mailbox to view in the Messages list. Note that the user can see all
messages to/from that vehicle.
- Can send OTA freeform messages
- Check to let the user send freeform messages to drivers.
Restricted users can send only to authorized vehicles.
- Can send messages to fleet
- Check to let the user send messages to all vehicles in the fleet.
If granted this permission, restricted users can send fleet messages. They
cannot select individual, unauthorized vehicles in the fleet.
- Can send emergency priority messages
- Check to let the user send emergency priority messages to
drivers. Restricted users can send only to authorized vehicles.
- Can claim other's messages
- Check to let the user claim messages sent to other user(s).
Claiming a message removes the message from the other users' list of unseen
messages.
- Can delete other's messages
- Check to let the user delete messages sent to other user(s).
- Can delete unseen messages
- Check to let the user delete messages that have not yet been
read.
- Can see vehicle mailboxes
- Check to let the user filter messages in the message list that
were sent to or from a specified vehicle. Restricted users who are not members
of a coverage don't have vehicle messages in their mailbox. To allow them to
view vehicle messages, grant this permission to their role.
- Can see all authorized mailboxes
- Check to let the unrestricted user see all messages sent to any
user, vehicle, or external application. The unrestricted user also can see a
consolidated list of every message in every mailbox. Restricted users can
select any authorized vehicle (if granted vehicle mailbox permission) or
address list mailbox.
- Can send OTA macro messages
- Check to let the user send macro messages to drivers. Restricted
users can send only to authorized vehicles.
- Can send attention priority messages
- Check to let the user send attention priority messages to
drivers. Driver notification for attention priority messages is the same as for
emergency messages. Restricted users can send only to authorized vehicles.
- Can send messages to all users
- Check to let the user send messages to the All Users address
list.
- Can send OTA binary messages
- Check to allow the user account you set up for integration and
assign to this role to send a binary message to a third party application.
