Mobile unit types and passwords
Each driver record contains two passwords, and both both password fields are required.
Depending on your fleet configuration, your drivers use one or both passwords as follows:
Unit type | Uses password type | Notes |
---|---|---|
Any MCP series device | Driver login | The Performance Monitoring password is a required field, but not used by these unit types. Passwords must be unique numeric values; use something simple, such as numbering drivers from "01" (number of digits = # of drivers you are setting up, in this example, you have up to 99 drivers). |
OmniTRACS device | Either type | Which password drivers use to log in is based on whether the Global Login feature is enabled. If your drivers use the Performance Monitoring password, ensure it is unique and not easy for another driver to guess, such as the driver's SSN. |
Mixed MCP and OmniTRACS devices |
MCP: driver login OmniTRACS: either |
See notes above. |
After creating a driver record, you can edit the driver login password but not the Performance Monitoring password. The Performance Monitoring password is also known as the MCT password or the Comm Unit password.
