Rules for Creating Macros
Rules for creating macros.
Before creating macros, it is helpful to put the layout down on paper
first. Keep the following rules in mind:
- A line, which can contain text, one or more fields, or a combination of both, can have no more than 38 characters.
- A macro can contain no more than 100 fields and no more than 50 lines.
- You can use the following
characters in your text:
- A-Z
- 0-9
- Spaces
- The following special character: ! @ # $ % & * ( ) - / = + ; : ' . " , . < > ?
- You can select field types such as date, time, or phone number, and make fields either optional or mandatory.
Note: Macro definitions are stored at the NOC and sent to all vehicles. You
incur a charge each time you create, delete, or modify a macro. However, the
cost of transmitting a macro is generally less than the cost of transmitting
freeform text.
