Trailer Tracks: TTID Host Support

Background

New Omni TTID Device

This release of the Services Portal, primarily within the Trailer Tracks application, introduces initial host support for the new, soon-to-be-available TTID trailer device. The TTID is similar in function to the TT100; its primary purpose is to report its identifying information, including the Trailer ID of the asset, to an Omnitracs in-cab device upon connect or disconnect.

Like the TT100, the TTID can be installed in standalone mode. It can also be installed alongside any other TT telematics device that does not have the ability to publish trailer identifying information to the in-cab device upon connect. Together, the telematics device and the TTID will provide the full-featured TT device offering to customers, similar to traditional TT210 functionality.

In addition to standalone support in the Services Portal, data generated by Omni in-cab devices in connection with TTIDs can be made available to third-party user interfaces to allow the display of Connect/Disconnect and tractor position reports alongside events generated by paired trailer tracking telematics devices.

User Interface (UI) Support for TTID-Equipped Trailers

Support within the Trailer Tracks host for TTID-equipped trailers is described in the table below. In most cases, it is very similar to the support available for TT100-equipped trailers; therefore, users familiar with TT100 implementation will see little visible change.

TT UI Page/Area TTID Support Notes
Dashboard

check

There are no changes for TTID-equipped trailers; supported just like TT100-equipped trailers.
Trailers - List Filter check

Users can filter the trailer list by new Device Types:

  • Tethered - TTID  (to show only the TTID-equipped trailers)
  • Tethered - All  (to show both TTID and TT100 equipped trailers)
Trailers - Export  check The exported CSV has been extended for TTID-equipped trailers to denote the trailer as TTID-equipped. The file now includes two new columns: Last ID Received and Last ID Received Timestamp.
Trailers - Add new...  The Add new trailer dialog window has been updated to prohibit manual creation of TTID-equipped trailers. TTID-equipped trailers are exclusively auto-created in the host upon receipt of a connect/disconnect to a TTID-equipped trailer.
Trailers - Overview check There are no changes to the Overview subtabs (Status, Specs, and Groups) for TTID-equipped trailers. All are supported like TT100-equipped trailers.
Trailers - Ping  check There are no changes to the Ping button and dialog window for TTID-equipped trailers. Ping is supported like TT100-equipped trailers.
Trailers - Settings The rename option is not available for TTID-equipped trailers; rather, the trailer ID is conveyed to the host when it receives a connect message for a TTID-equipped trailer. (The ID is programmed into the TTID via an FST when it is originally installed.)
Trailers - Monitoring  check There are no changes for TTID-equipped trailers; monitoring is supported just like TT100-equipped trailers.
Trailers - About Device  check

There are two changes to this tab for TTID-equipped trailers:

  • Its Type is shown as "Tethered TTID"
  • Its "Last Received TTID" value is shown; if you hover over it you can see the time stamp when it was last received at the host
Trailers - History  check Trailer history is supported just like TT100-equipped trailers, except no Reefer events are available from the event filter drop-down list.
Trailers - Closest Landmarks  check There are no visible UI changes for TTID-equipped trailers; this feature is supported just like TT100-equipped trailers.
Setup | Monitoring Plans  check TTID-equipped trailers must be assigned to a plan just like any other trailer. As such, they are supported much like TT100-equipped trailers: a new TTID Alerts tab provides configuration for the optional notifications for the supported events, but there is no new TTID Config tab (since there is nothing available to configure on a TTID from the host).
Landmarks  check There are no visible changes to the Details, Inventory, or Notification tabs for TTID-equipped trailers. All are supported just like TT100-equipped trailers.
Queries check There are no visible changes to the Queries UI for TTID-equipped trailers. All except Utilization are supported just like TT100-equipped trailers.
Alerts check There are no visible changes to the Alerts UI for TTID-equipped trailers. This feature is supported just like TT100-equipped trailers.
Fleet Map check There are no visible changes to the Fleet Map UI for TTID-equipped trailers. This feature is supported just like TT100-equipped trailers.
Setup | Company Settings check There are no visible changes to the Company Settings UI for TTID-equipped trailers. This feature is supported just like TT100-equipped trailers.

Fixes/Minor Enhancements

Below are the minor enhancements and fixes that are included in Services Portal 3.6.

Entity Sync to Omnitracs One

The ES-to-OT1 entity sync feature was extended to pull the driver's Sixteen Hour Exemption from HOS and relay it to the Omnitracs One host (along with the driver's other HOS attributes).

Three applications must be changed in order for this attribute to be synced all the way to OT1:

  • HOS must make the attribute available to the Services Portal (available via HOS 5.12)
  • The Services Portal must consume the attribute and relay it to OT1 (available via SP 3.6)
  • OT1 host must consume the attribute from SP and post it into OT1 data/systems (available via RN TBD)

Alerts

  • To provide more useful feedback to the user for errors related to the Entity Maintenance Bridge, lower-level feedback returned from HOS is now shown in the Alert text on the Alerts page. In this way, the user is better able to understand what went wrong and what is potentially required to get things in sync.
  • On the Alerts page, hyperlinks in the Alert Event that do not link to anything by design have been removed.

Trailer Tracks

Monitoring Plan UI

A few minor UI fixes have been implemented on the Monitoring Plan maintenance page:

  • The far left tab (TT200/210 Basic Config) is now active and in focus on the MP UI for customers whose fleets are comprised exclusively of T2s.
  • The background and color scheme of all detail tabs on the MP UI now properly extend to the bottom of the screen.
  • The serious exception handling on the MP UI now correctly displays debug/trace information on serious error.

Dashboard UI

On the TT dashboard, all errors encountered when editing dormancy levels are now handled properly.

Add Trailer UI

A minor fix was made to the Add new trailer dialog window (available from the Trailers tab) to display the "tethered reefer installed" prompt in the correct scenarios.

Prohibited Characters in Trailer ID

The following special characters are no longer permitted in a trailer's SCAC and ID: $ + & % ? < > /

New trailers and new SCACs cannot include these characters in their IDs. Existing trailers that include these characters in their ID will be allowed to exist as is unless or until they are renamed.

QTRACS

  • Message History Report: A minor fix was made to the message list PDF file (available from the Messages page) to ensure that it is completed normally for users who may have coverages and/or global groups currently selected.
  • Driver Bulk Import: A minor fix was made to the Drivers > Bulk Import > Results tab so that the error list correctly loads and displays in all cases.
  • Fleet Mapping UI: A minor fix was made to the Fleet Map page to prevent duplicate or incorrect map markers from being displayed.

Miscellaneous

  • A minor fix was made to the serious exception handling on the PM Management Group UI to correctly display debug/trace information for serious errors.
  • In some cases, the Desktop Notifier no longer chimes for users running the Chrome Browser. This happens because Chrome now suppresses audio in windows until the user interacts with the window. A note has been added to the online help to explain this nuance.
